Seald Sweet announced the launch of a new brand and line of packaging for their easy-to-peel, sweet mandarins as part of their summer citrus program. The new packaging boasts colorful, kid-friendly graphics to promote their exceptionally sweet mandarin varieties and is represented by a sweet, little girl character named “Mandarina,” the namesake for Seald Sweet’s new brand of exceptionally sweet mandarin varieties, Mandarina’s™.
Over the last decade, the company has been working with a well-established network of growers who have invested in new plantings of these proprietary mandarin varieties. “The varieties which are specifically selected to be packed in the Mandarina’s™ brand packaging are the best of the mandarin category,” says Mayda Sotomayor, Seald Sweet’s CEO. “It is our commitment to retailers and consumers that only the best, juiciest and sweetest varieties are packed in this brand. We consider Mandarina’s™ to be the ‘crème de le crème’ of easy-peelers.”
Mandarina’s™ brand identity was intentionally designed to have a candy-like appeal and to visually convey its sweetness. “As part of the industry initiative to improve the health and well-being of our nation’s children, we want to appeal to young consumers with this brand,” says Kim Flores, Seald Sweet’s director of marketing. “Mandarina personifies sweetness, and helps emphasize smart snacking solutions with children.” Flores continues, “We are really excited about the new brand and the unique differentiation Mandarina brings to our products versus other brands of easy-peelers.”
As part of their summer citrus program from the Southern Hemisphere, which is counter-seasonal and non-competing to US citrus production, Seald Sweet’s Mandarina’s™ sweet mandarins are available August through October, with conventional clementines available June through August. Also included in Seald Sweet’s Summer Citrus line-up are navel oranges, Minneola Tangelos and Cara Cara (red) oranges.
