Alamo, TX – Tex Starr Distributing, LLC, growers of the sweet papaya variety Royal Star Papaya, confirms that its papayas are not included in the Salmonella-related recall initiated this month. Only papayas sold under the Blondie, Yaya, Mañanita, and Tastylicious brand sold before July 23 are subject to the recall.
All Royal Star Papayas are grown on orchards located in Colima, Mexico, near the Pacific coast and are in stores and safe to consume. “Our sweet and delicious papayas are perfectly safe and people should continue to enjoy them worry free,” said Kenny Alford co-owner of Tex Starr Distributing, LLC. “We want our consumers to know they can be completely confident in the safety of their Royal Star Papaya purchases.”
Since the Mexican papaya recall, Royal Star Papaya has been randomly tested by the FDA and passed all inspections with 100% success. “We take our food safety program very seriously,” said Lance Peterson, grower and co-owner of Tex Starr Distributing, LLC. “Affirming our commitment, we have invested in third-party food safety audits and certifications on both our fields and packing facilities to ensure that all of our products are safe to eat.”
Royal Star Papaya is available in retail grocery stores in Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Maryland, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Oklahoma, Texas and Washington. Royal Star papaya is also sold and available in retail grocery stores throughout Canada. The fruit can be identified by a bright orange and green sticker that denotes the Royal Star Papaya brand. Royal Star Papaya is a proprietary seed variety boasting a sweet flavor and appealing aroma that is distinctly different from other papayas that are widely sold throughout the USA and Canada.
Tex Starr Distributing, LLC is based in Alamo, Texas, and is the exclusive distributor of the Royal Star Papaya. Tex Starr Distributing, LLC also grows and distributes fresh Sun Crest papaya, honeydew melon and watermelon fresh from the company’s farms and orchards in Mexico.
