PMA Recognizes Innovative Exhibitors At PMA Foodservice Expo

MONTEREY, CA – The Produce Marketing Association recognized grower-shippers which displayed their products to buyers through innovative displays at the yearly Foodservice Conference & Expo’s trade show in Monterey, CA.

At the July 30 expo, Driscoll’s Inc., based in Watsonville, CA, won first place in Best of Show contest.

Owyhee Produce, which ships from Nyssa, OR, took second place. Babé Farms Inc., of Santa Maria, CA, won for best product promotion.

Berry grower-shipper Driscoll’s was honored for its exhibit which featured a cold storage display case, a backdrop with large images of berries and several product samples. A Driscoll’s grower also staffed the exhibit alongside company personnel.

Owyhee Produce, which grows, packs and ships onions, asparagus and mint, was recognized for its exhibit and product display which resembled a large, barn wood frame style structure with a barn floor strewn with onion skins.

Babé Farms, a grower-shipper of specialty salads and vegetables, was honored for its Honey Cone Cabbage.

A group of industry professionals anonymously judged the exhibits on criteria including proactive engagement, adequate staffing, positions and placement, professionalism and appearance and non-verbal communications. Hierarchy of graphics, exhibit design, benefit messaging and overall exhibit appeal were other criteria.

All winners receive framed award announcements on the show floor and recognition on PMA’s website.

The first place winner receives first choice of booth space at next year’s expo while the second place winner receives an all access pass to next year’s conference. The Best Product Promo winner received digital advertising.
