New Personnel, Technology & Capability At Nash Produce

There are big things happening this year at Nash Produce.  The 2011-2012 crop in North Carolina is off to an extraordinary start.  Acreage is up, yields are increased and Nash Produce is seeing great volumes and quality for this years’ sweet potato crop.  Always having been proactive in staying ahead of the curve, Nash Produce has added numerous resources to increase their qualifications list enabling them to better serve their customers.

Within the last 6 months, Nash Produce has added two new employees to the company’s network.  Doug Craig has joined the company as Director of Food Safety.  Doug has 19 years of experience in building food safety programs for companies such as Bay Valley Foods,  Hardee’s Food System, Sara Lee and Brown and Williamson Tobacco.   Doug will be responsible for working towards certification of all Global GAP, Primus, USDA and necessary audits.  In addition, he will be monitoring food safety and employee practices to help the company take all essential measures to make certain that products are supplied at the highest level of quality and safety.

Hunter Gibbs joined the Nash Produce sweet potato sales team with 10 years of previous experience in eastern vegetable sales.  He grew up in agriculture and also farms red and yellow table stock potatoes.  Hunter is the President of the NC Potato Growers Association.   His main focus will be on business development and new customer acquisitions.

Not only has Nash Produce added personnel, but the company has put into operation two new technology and machinery systems.   Nash Produce will be labeling each case with product and traceability information through a barcode scanner system.  The information will give the retail customers all product traceability information and will be fully PTI compliant by year end.

In addition to case labels, Nash Produce has increased their product offerings by the installation of a bagging machine.  This machine gives the company the ability to offer their customers a value-added and custom product along with their custom sized bulk packages and microwaveable sweet potatoes.

Lastly, Nash Produce has positioned the company to be fully capable of handling more volumes for this year’s crop.  They have added to their storage as well as purchased additional bins to hold sweet potatoes.

Heading into 2012, Nash Produce is also focusing on ways to best serve their customers and market the quality brand of the company.  With industry trends and demands for healthy foods, convenience, innovative products and cost efficient solutions, Nash Produce has modeled their marketing plan in a way to best suit the customer and continues their goal to produce a harvest where all can reap the benefits.

Nash Produce looks forward to what this season has to offer and is prepared to keep the growth of sweet potato demand moving forward.  Stop by Nash Produce’s booth #1853 at the PMA to meet their new employees and see the new bagged product.  To find out more about Nash Produce and their products, please visit www.nashproduce.com.  You may also email info@nashproduce.com with questions or call them at 800-334-3032.
