National Apple Month Announces Retail & DeCA Display Contest Call For Entries

Vienna, VA – With a chance to win $14,000 in prizes and only 2 weeks remaining until the November 30 display deadline, retailers and military commissaries are encouraged to participate in the 2011 National Apple Month Retail Display Contest. Displays must be in place for at least a two-week period and successfully integrate the 2011 “Host an Apple Pairing Party” theme.

Entries must demonstrate a display that creatively cross-merchandize apples and apple products with products from Marzetti®, Smucker’s® and Jif®, and effectively boosts sales. Produce managers can visit USApple.org/national for professionally designed point-of-sale materials, including free downloadable posters, banners and a pairing menu featuring sponsors’ products.

Entries must be postmarked or emailed by January 15, 2012, and winners will be announced January 31. Judging will take into consideration the following criteria: 1) Use of National Apple Month signage, 2) Creativity in incorporating “Host an Apple Pairing Party” theme, 3) Incorporation of sponsor products and 4) Effectiveness of the display in increasing sales.
