MountainKing Potatoes Promises More Green With New Year's REDolution

HOUSTON, TX – Rather than make a New Year’s resolution, MountainKing Potatoes is introducing a “New Year’s REDolution,” a special promotion focusing on the company’s popular red potatoes featuring bold, new in-store merchandising, recipes and produce manager starter kits.

MountainKing’s “New Year’s REDolution” features dynamic support of its 3 lb. Boil-in-Bag B Reds, 5 lb. Butter Reds and 5 lb. and 10 lb. Reds.

Popular among health-conscious Baby Boomers and Millennials, Reds consistently command more dollar ring per pound than conventional potato types, according to John Pope, MountainKing’s vice president of sales & marketing.   Plus, the variety account for nearly one in six potato purchases.

MountainKing “New Year’s REDolution” includes high-graphic, full-size pre-printed bins and half bins (best displayed near seafood, pork and chicken), recipes, point-of-sale material for ad circulars, storage signage and social media support.  Starter kits for produce managers with coupons and product information also are available.

A European classic, MountainKing’s Butter Reds feature a red skin with golden flesh to produce a creamy, smooth flavor and rich texture while its Traditional Reds, with their red skin and white flesh, are considered among the finest grown in the fertile elevations of Colorado.  Plus, MountainKing’s “boil-n-bag” feature allows the small size Reds to be dropped straight into a pot without removing them from the bag.

Besides their great taste and ease of preparation, red potatoes pack a healthy punch.  In fact, just one medium red potato with skin provides approximately 35% of the recommended daily intake of Vitamin C and 16% of dietary fiber.

Texas-based MountainKing is one of the world’s largest growers of high-flavor potato varieties. The grower, packager and shipper is also one of North America’s largest producers of Red potato varieties.
