WINTERS, Calif. — Mariani’s line of seasoned almonds will soon be available in clear, 12-oz. bags in addition to the original 6-oz. stand-up foil pouches. By early 2012, all of Mariani Nut retail products will be available in either foil or clear bags, leaving the selection up to produce managers to decide what’s best for their customers.
“Many of our retailers have identified that fresh produce consumers prefer clear packaging,” said Matt Mariani, who oversees the company’s sales and marketing activities. He continues, “Our goal is to offer a full line of packaging options for the retail environment.”
The seasoned almond line is the company’s newest and joins whole natural, sliced, and blanched- slivered almonds, shelled and chopped walnuts, and shelled and chopped pecans in clear and foil packaging options. All bags feature convenient, consumer- friendly zip-lock closures to maintain freshness.
“Consumers are recognizing the health benefits of almonds and walnuts in increasing numbers and recognizing the value when compared to the high costs and relatively empty calories of fast food,” Mariani adds. National research shows that 70% of Americans are eating more nutritiously and the company’s own research reveals that consumers are consciously trying to include more nuts in their diet.
