Everett, Mass. — The summer may be winding down, but Maine Wild Blueberry season is in full swing!
Jim and Mark Ruma of Ruma’s Fruit & Produce Co. in Everett, Massachusetts have teamed up with farmers in the heart of Maine’s blueberry country to market their amazing crops to supermarkets, wholesalers and food service distributors all along the East Coast.
Distinguishable by their smaller size and sweeter taste, delicious wild Maine blueberries are often cited as a “superfood” for their abundance of nutrients and antioxidant powers. As consumers become more health conscious, the demand for these delightful berries continues to increase. Ruma’s is helping meet that demand, shipping fresh product daily from their 20,000 square foot distribution facility just steps away from the New England Produce Center. Ruma’s wild blueberries are packed in one-pint pulp trays with a plastic lid and UPC code.
Ruma’s Fruit and Produce Co. has been family owned and operated since 1900, when founder Giacomo Ruma sold his first tomato from a pushcart in Boston’s West End. For the past century, Ruma’s has remained committed to distributing only the finest fruits and vegetables available through our wholesale and our popular fruit and gourmet gift baskets.
