SANTA PAULA, CALIF.–Limoneira Company (NASDAQ: LMNR), a leading agribusiness with prime agricultural land and operations, real estate and water rights throughout California, has named John Carter as its Global Sales Director. This newly created position coincides with Limoneira's decision to market and sell its lemons directly to foodservice, wholesale and retail customers around the world beginning November 1, 2010.
Carter will be responsible for developing national and international marketing and sales strategies to leverage growth and profit opportunities for Limoneira's commercial and specialty lemons. Carter and his sales team will focus on expanding and enhancing relationships with customers around the world to maximize value.
"John brings with him a wealth of knowledge in national and international fruit sales and marketing," says Harold Edward, Limoneira president and CEO. "He will be a valuable addition to our management team as Limoneira moves forward in our direct sales efforts."
Carter was previously senior vice president of sales and business development for SunOpta Fruit Group, a $75 million division of SunOpta, Inc. Previously, he was with Chiquita Fresh North America, most recently as director of new business development.
