LGMA Honors CDFA’s Glenn Yost With Golden Checkmark Award

Sacramento, CA – At its Advisory Board meeting in Santa Maria, CA, the California Leafy Greens Marketing Agreement presented the “Golden Checkmark” award to California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) Economist Glenn Yost.  The award, which honors individuals and institutions committed to government oversight of produce food safety systems, was awarded to Mr. Yost in honor of his long career with CDFA and the specific critical role he played in the creation of the LGMA seven years ago.  Mr. Yost will be retiring this month after over thirty years of service to the state’s agricultural industries.

“Seven years ago, we needed to work closely with the State of California to create the LGMA,” said former LGMA Chairman Joe Pezzini, who presented the award to Mr. Yost.  “Glenn worked tirelessly with the industry’s leaders to create what was at the time an unprecedented food safety program.  It’s safe to say that the program would not have come into existence so quickly and effectively without Glenn’s leadership and support.”

“We are pleased to see the LGMA’s appreciation of Glenn, and congratulate him on this award,” said CDFA Secretary Karen Ross.  “The LGMA plays a huge role in protecting public health, and Glenn’s leadership was critical to the creation of the program.”
