Kalettes Introduced To Celebrities At The American Music Awards Gift Suite

SANTA MARIA, CALIF. — Kalettes®, the kale and brussels sprouts hybrid, recently participated in the American Music Awards® luxury gifting suite where they were introduced to approximately 100 celebrities and entertainment media attending the annual award show. The opportunity allowed Kalettes to network with celebrities on an individual basis and increase awareness for the sweet and nutty vegetable.

The American Music Awards luxury gifting suite was hosted on Saturday, November 21, 2015, at the W Hotel in Hollywood. Kalettes operated a booth where a chef sampled Kalettes to celebrities. Highlights included presenting Kalettes to Cat Cora, iron chef on the Food Network’s “Iron Chef America” and Melissa D’Arabian, chef and host on the Food Network. Other celebrities who sampled Kalettes included Grammy® award-winning rapper and chef Coolio, American Music Award performer Kirsten Maldonado of Pentatonix, “Twilight” cast member Jackson Rathbone and more!

“We are so honored to have been invited to be a part of the American Music Awards luxury gifting suite and used this opportunity to increase awareness for Kalettes among the celebrities, who we know are powerful influencers,” said Kraig Kuykendall, sales manager of Tozer Seeds America, the company behind Kalettes. “Since the event, we’ve already received several requests for Kalettes samples from some of the celebrities and are excited for Kalettes to be a part of American pop culture.”

Kalettes are the product of more than a decade of research by Tozer Seeds, the largest family-owned vegetable breeding company in England. The kale and brussels sprout hybrid offers a fresh fusion of sweet and nutty, combining the best traits of each of its parent vegetables. Kalettes are not genetically modified and were developed by cross-pollinating brussels sprouts with kale through traditional methods.

Tozer Seeds has exclusive marketing agreements with select companies to grow and market Kalettes to create a consistent name and brand identity, which would allow consumers to easily recognize this new vegetable. The companies who have entered into the marketing agreement with Tozer for Kalettes are 4Earth Farms, Classic Salads, Mann Packing, Ocean Mist Farms, Southern Specialties and WP Rawl. As part of the agreement, Kalettes seeds will be sold by Johnny’s Selected Seeds to small farmers and home growers.

Kalettes are available to both retailers and food service distributors directly through the companies.
