WASHINGTON, D.C. – Jackie Caplan Wiggins, Vice President and COO of Frieda’s Specialty Produce, will deliver the keynote at the Global Cold Chain Conference, Monday, June 25 in Chicago. She will deliver a presentation entitled, “Normal is Boring: How to Handle Specialty Produce Logistics.”
Caplan Wiggins will share how the women-owned family company based in Los Alamitos, California, has scaled their business over the past 56 years, why they elect to manage their logistics processes in-house and how she believes 3PLs can add value in the cold chain.
“As Keynote Speaker of the Opening General Session, Jackie will seamlessly bridge the gap between the cold chain and produce industry by drawing from her experiences overseeing the operations of the 81,000 square feet facility which distributes more than 450 unique fruits and vegetables from around the world to every corner of America,” said Global Cold Chain Alliance President and CEO Corey Rosenbusch.
A notable leader in the fresh produce industry, Caplan Wiggins – the youngest daughter of produce trailblazer Dr. Frieda Rapoport Caplan, founder of Frieda’s – joined the family business in 1983. She is a member of the inaugural class of the United Fresh Produce Association’s 1995 Produce Industry Leadership Program, now in its 24th year, and in 2014 she received the Timothy Vaux Outstanding Alumni Leadership Award, which honors individual graduates of the program. In 2017 she was selected as one of the Women of Influence by the Shelby Report and The Packer 25 – Profiles in Leadership.
Caplan Wiggins has served on the Produce Marketing Association’s Convention Exposition Committee, and has served on the board of United Fresh’s Educational Foundation. She is currently a member of the United Fresh Board of Directors and serves as chair of its Wholesaler-Distributor Board.
Global Cold Chain Expo’s Opening General Session will take place on Monday, June 25, at noon at the McCormick Place Convention Center in Chicago. The event requires a Global Cold Chain Expo Conference Package to attend. Registration is available at www.globalcoldchainexpo.org.
Once again, the Global Cold Chain Expo will co-locate with United FreshMKT and United FreshTEC Expos, the International Floriculture Expo, and the new SmartFood Expo™.
