GARDEN GOVE, Calif. — To mark National Soyfoods Month, House Foods, a leading maker of tofu, will celebrate the country’s popular soyfood product with a series of new tofu recipes created specifically for each state: Think Hawaii Tofu Poke, California Tofu Avocado Toast, and Texas BBQ Tofu Tacos. The “50 Plates of Tofu” campaign highlights the versatility and health benefits of tofu, and signals a sea change in how tofu inspires in the kitchen.
To create the unique recipes for each state, House Foods partnered with five food and lifestyle influencers. Each state recipe, inspired by a regional dish or a popular ingredient, is designed to be simple, easy to prepare and delicious, all the while supporting a better-for-you approach to eating.
“By incorporating tofu into various recipes inspired by each of the 50 states, consumers will see that tofu has a place in any dish, sweet or savory,” says Kelsey Nixon, one of the recipe developers and a host of Cooking Channel’s Kelsey’s Essentials. “Tofu can serve as a main protein source in recipes such as South Dakota Tofu Shish Kebabs, or as an ingredient replacement in ones such as Oregon Strawberry Lime Tofu Ice Cream. No matter what your favorite dish or ingredient is, adding tofu can bring new life to any recipe.”
Beginning today, House Foods will roll out five new recipes weekly on its Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/housefoodsamerica/ and all the recipes will be added to the “50 Plates of Tofu” photo album. Below are the five influencers and their signature recipes:
- Kelsey Nixon– New York, Roasted Garlic White Pizza
- Kathy Patalsky – California, Smoky Sweet Tofu Avocado Toast
- Jane Ko– Texas, BBQ Tofu Tacos
- Andie Mitchell– New Jersey, Loaded TLT (Tofu, Lettuce, Tomato)
- Amanda Paa– Minnesota, Rustic Tofu & Vegetable Wild Rice Soup
“Low-calorie and cholesterol-free, House Foods tofu offers a variety of benefits and is a high quality plant-based protein, non-GMO, gluten free and Kosher certified,” says Kathy Patalsky. “Altogether, the 50 recipes should spark a revolution in how we think about this super food.”
