Greater Bay Area McDonalds Hosts Tour Of Christopher Ranch

Gilroy, CA – Back by popular demand and just in time to celebrate the annual garlic harvest in California, Bay Area McDonalds are offering Gilroy Garlic Fries. To get the word out, the Greater Bay Area McDonalds hosted a tour of Christopher Ranch, the source of the garlic for the Gilroy Garlic Fries.

The tour, including food bloggers, owner operators and some corporate McDonald staff, started in a Christopher Ranch garlic field outside the city limits of Gilroy, CA, where Bill Christopher shared the intricacies of growing and harvesting fresh garlic. The group then moved on to Christopher Ranch Headquarters to see the grading, peeling and packing facilities. Ken Christopher headed up the tour and Don Christopher (founder) was on hand to answer questions about the company, garlic and the world-famous Gilroy Garlic Festival, which he co-founded in 1979.

At the end of the tour, the group headed to a Gilroy McDonalds for a demonstration of how Gilroy Garlic Fires are prepared with a tasting as the grand finale.
