LOS ANGELES – California blueberry season is underway for North American distributor of Fresh Asparagus and Blueberries, Gourmet Trading Company, who has introduced 5oz, 10oz and 16oz retail friendly pack sizes of its SuperbluesTM the super sized and crunchy blueberries from its own California blueberry farm.
“We found that traditional pack sizes such as 4.4oz and 6oz were crushing the 18mm minimum diameter berries. By putting fewer Superblues in each clamshell we were able to give retailers a differentiated product at a comparable price point to regular blueberries”, stated Julia Inestroza, Marketing Director. “Adding Superblues gives retailers the ability to target two types of customers at a similar price giving them a more complete berry category.”
“It is a great time for our retail customers to switch to the new pack sizes since we are experiencing a great crop of Superblues this season.”, noted Scott Hulsey Vice President of Procurement.
Gourmet Trading Company Superblues are now available until the end of June from the company’s own farms in California. The super sized and super crunchy blueberries are available in the traditional 4.4oz and 6oz clamshells but also in the modified pack sizes: 5oz, 10oz and 16oz.
