SANTA MARIA, Calif. – This spring, Gold Coast Packing, a leading grower, shipper and processor of fresh produce, has added whole and halved Brussels sprouts to its successful line of specialty cut shredded Brussels sprouts to capitalize on the increased demand for this trending vegetable.
From field to fork, Gold Coast Packing considers customers’ needs to be the highest priority. In response to the increased purchasing of Brussels sprouts for Foodservice applications, the Gold Coast team saw an opportunity to capitalize on the trend and offer chefs a more convenient way to prepare the trending dish.
“The product development team observed that customers were purchasing more and more Brussels sprouts,” said Crystal Chavez, marketing coordinator of Gold Coast Packing. “We saw an opportunity to respond to our customers’ needs and better serve them by creating a full lineup of options, including whole, halved and shredded Brussels sprouts to make preparing food as easy as can be.”
The new products launched this spring in anticipation of the upcoming fall and holiday season, which is not only a peak season for Brussels sprouts, but also a busy time for those preparing the food. As this vegetable is moving toward the center of the plate rather than only a complementary side, restaurants see the value in a pre-cut produce to allow more creative time in the kitchen.

The Brussels sprouts are offered in whole, halved and shredded Foodservice packs available in a 2×5 or 4×5 pound pack. Gold Coast has plans to expand this product to retail packages as demand for these items increase.
