Salinas, CA – The Fresh Express Women’s Leadership Network spread a message of hope and warmth for the children of the 47 families living at Pueblo del Mar Recovery Center in Seaside CA this holiday season. Under their leadership, Fresh Express employees donated generously to ensure that each of the 123 children would not only receive a holiday gift or toy, but also a new warm jacket. The Fresh Express team also provided 40 bags of clothing, shoes and accessories as well as a fully stocked cosmetic bag for each of the women in the family recovery program.
Pueblo del Mar, operated by Sun Street Centers, has received state and national awards for its innovative model partnerships with government agencies and local non-profit organizations. Participants receive multi-agency services at one site, which allows a greater quality of services. At Pueblo del Mar, homeless families in recovery are given a chance to rebuild their lives through wrap-around services designed to address myriad needs from counseling and mental health support, onsite cooperative childcare, financial literacy, parent education and more.
In addition to employee participation, the Fresh Express initiative received donations from associated businesses and individuals including the law firm of Burnham Brown, local attorney Jim Fitzpatrick of Fitzpatrick Swini and Swantson, and personal contributions from attorney Robert Bodzin of Burnham Brown.
