ISSAQUAH, WA – Following the recent acquisition of Challapampa, one of Peru’s leading producers of grapes, citrus and pomegranates Vanguard International announces that effective immediately Manuel Yzaga will serve as Vanguard Peru’s and Challapampa’s General Manager and Jaime Modonese is appointed Vanguard Peru’s and Challapampa’s Manager of Finance & Administration. Darío Nuñez will continue as Challapampa’s Vice President of Farming Operations.
Prior to joining the Vanguard team, Manuel served as Sun World’s consultant in Peru. He was responsible for introducing Sun World’s proprietary varieties to Peruvian growers. Manuel also helped others to manage their plantings, farming operations, site selections, water wells design and drilling, varietal selections, soil preparation, planting, growing, harvesting, packing, cold storage, and sales coordination. In addition, he previously held General Manager and Director positions with various Peruvian agribusiness entities where he gained valuable general management, business planning, accounting, financial, and tax skills.
Jaime joins Vanguard with years of produce experience. Previously at Don Fermin, Jaime served as Finance & Administration Manager for the last eight years responsible for the company’s financial management and IT systems. Jaime was also responsible for overseeing Don Fermin’s labor force, as well as representing them at the board level at Fruchincha, the Peruvian Association of Avocado Exports (PROHASS), and industry conventions such as the PMA, and Fruit Logistica. Manuel and Jaime will be based in Vanguard’s new office in Lima. Darío will continue to be based in Ica.
