PLANT CITY – Oftentimes strawberries served at restaurants and food bars are Florida-grown and customers don't even know it.
The Plant City-based Florida Strawberry Growers Association has launched a marketing campaign so diners know the source of the sweet red fruit.
The association is encouraging chefs and other food distributors to label their strawberries as Florida-grown.
"We have created a Restaurant Recognition & Rewards program," Marketing Director Sue Harrell said. "To be eligible, chefs and restaurateurs agree to support Florida strawberry farmers by including and identifying Florida strawberries on their menus."
