Emeryville, CA – SCS Global Services (SCS), a leading food safety training center and certifier, will provide the first interactive online training course for the GLOBALG.A.P food safety Standards: IFA & PSS for Fruits and Vegetables. GLOBALG.A.P. is an internationally recognized set of farm standards dedicated to good agricultural practices and recognized by the Global Food Safe Initiative (GFSI). The course is equivalent to a two-day in-person training course, but taken over a flexible two-week period in a virtual classroom setting.
"GLOBALG.A.P. training is the most efficient way for growers to start the process of reaching certification. SCS has worked closely with reps from GLOBALG.A.P. to ensure that our education programs are accurate and helpful. We're happy to be able to offer a new kind of learning for producers around the world," said Diane Dulmage, SCS' Training Services Manager.
SCS has adapted its traditional two-day GLOBALG.A.P. course into a syllabus structured around three web-based live workshops, helping attendees progress through fourteen easy-to-understand digital learning modules at their own pace. The course is designed to provide attendees with continuous interactive engagement with their instructor, food safety veteran Rhiannon Wallstedt Woo, as well as each other, bringing the classroom experience online.
The digital learning modules will cover the fundamental documents, processes and procedures upon which GLOBALG.A.P. Standards, inspections and audits are based. The course includes a detailed review of fourteen essential topics including site history, pre-harvest, harvest and post-harvest activities, document review, on-farm checklists and a PSS to IFA Standard comparison (PSS is the North American GAP certification or "Harmonized Standard"). One module features a video interview with SCS' GLOBALG.A.P. scheme manager/lead auditor, Rebecca Anderson covering common nonconformities from an auditor's perspective.
"SCS is bringing its popular food safety training experience to a worldwide audience online while providing immediate cost savings while maintaining our commitment to high-quality education," continued Dulmage.
SCS, which trains hundreds of food safety and quality assurance practitioners across several food safety schemes every year, plans to expand its online training offerings to provide excellent trainings, regardless of geographical location.
SCS will roll out the GLOBALG.A.P. online training course with a live-streamed introductory workshop on July 8th 10am PST. The course will continue for two weeks until July 22nd. To find out more, visit SCS's online training page.
