The Port of Wilmington on Tuesday welcomed the first breakbulk shipment of Chilean fruit to arrive in the United States for the winter season.
The Pacific Mermaid, a refrigerated vessel operated by Trans Global Shipping N.V. of the Global Reefers service, arrived in the morning, port officials said.
The ship discharged a cargo of nearly 618,500 boxes of fresh cherries, blueberries, apricots, peaches, nectarines and table grapes.
