Summerville, SC – Nonprofit Katie’s Krops, welcomes long time supporter, Don Goodwin, to the board of directors. The growing 5o1(c)3 organization is honored to have the entrepreneur of a leading consulting firm in fresh produce as a board member.
Don Goodwin, founder and president of Golden Sun Marketing, was introduced to Katie’s Krops nearly five years ago when Katie Stagliano spoke at an industry event. “Here was this 12-years-old girl engaging a room full of industry professionals with her dream of ending hunger,” says Goodwin. “Immediately, it became my mission to support Katie and her aspiration in any capacity I could. I am truly honored to now be a part of her board and help her achieve her dream.”
In the passing years, Goodwin has supported the organization’s marketing efforts, arranged sponsorships, and provided strategic insights. Stacy Stagliano, CEO, president and chairman of the board is humbled to have such support. “Don’s dedication to Katie’s Krops over the years has been incredible. We are so very thankful to have him join our board of directors as we strategize to expand our cause across all 50 states.”
The board began with humble beginnings as Stacy, husband John, and founder Katie Stagliano built the organization with the support of those in their community. The board has since expanded to include influential members such as Goodwin and Disney’s High School Musical actress Monique Coleman who will help Katie’s Krops reach 500 gardens across all 50 states by 2018.
Today, Katie’s Krops sponsors 77 youth-run gardens in 29 states, each growing vegetables and donating the fresh harvest to the underserved in their communities. Thanks to the support of donations and sponsors such as Bi-Lo, Tasteful Selections™ Opal Apple™ and WP Rawl, Katie’s Krops continues to educate young growers about agriculture and the environment, a sustainable solution to the problem of hunger, and while teaching responsibility and compassion.
