Demand for Cuties — the California Mandarin oranges — is growing, so Delano-based fruit giant Paramount Citrus is expanding, a company spokeswoman said Wednesday.
Paramount has started hiring for 500 new jobs at a new 640,000-square-foot processing facility, which is scheduled to open in time for the October harvest, the spokeswoman said. Construction started in November 2010.
The jobs are mainly seasonal, though they'll cover a wide range of positions, including supervisors and mechanics.
