The new potato sensation, Midnight Moon, is making an impact wherever it lands. Marketed by Culinary Specialty Produce, this high profile potato is getting great reviews. “We have sent many samples to buyers and they do seem interested when they see it,” noted Mr. Mark Pittenger, sales manager for Culinary Specialty Produce, “but they get seriously excited when we get them to taste it and that can be tough,” Pittenger concluded.
Mr. Pittenger explained that this new potato has all the attributes needed to compete in the specialty potato market. “They have a beautiful smooth purple skin to stand out, they are organic, they have the brightest flesh of any yellow potato we have ever seen, and for those who take the time to sample the Midnight Moon they will they are the best yellow potato they have ever tasted.” Indeed, purple is the new yellow.
Richard Leibowitz, president of Culinary Specialty Produce agrees. “As a specialty produce company we are fortunate to have many opportunities to bring new products to market. It is what we do. The Midnight Moon is one of the best opportunities we have had in a while, but it is important that we get people to taste it,” Leibowitz emphasized. “When we can get a buyer excited about flavor and profit, it is a better formula for wider distribution and more repeat business,” Leibowitz explained.
To that end Culinary Specialty Produce will be offering cooked samples of the Midnight Moon at the New York Produce Show on Wednesday December 2, 2015 at the Javitz Center. They will be offering a simple sauté that will allow the attendees to taste first-hand the intense flavor of this sublime potato, and that is what specialty produce is all about. Tastings will begin at 10:00 AM at booth number 319 and continue throughout the event.
Initial distribution for retail and wholesale suppliers will begin in the Northeast and the Mid-Atlantic. By the first of the year, distribution will be nationwide. For further information please contact Richard or Mark at the numbers above or global headquarters at the numbers below.
