Crunch Pak May Buy Cashmere Mill Site For $2.3 Million

WENATCHEE — Planning to expand its successful Cashmere-based sliced-apple business, Crunch Pak will explore buying its hometown’s old lumber mill site from the Port of Chelan County for $2.3 million.

Port commissioners Tuesday unanimously agreed to sell to 20.7 acres of the 32.5-acre site, which includes wetlands and views of area mountain peaks.

According to the sale agreement approved Tuesday, Crunch Pak will pay $30,000 in earnest money and then have 120 days to finish researching the site before it finally decides whether to buy. That decision would come by Jan. 11.

The property is south of Sunset Highway, west of downtown Cashmere, where the company has its headquarters. It’s bordered to the south by Brender Creek and to the north by the Wenatchee River.
