Connecticut To Enforce Rules For Local 'Connecticut Grown' Agriculture

HARTFORD, Conn. —Cracking down on "Connecticut Grown"  vegetables and produce. The label may say it's grown locally but is it? The state is planning to step up its inspection and enforcement to make sure you're really getting what you pay for.

Buying locally grown is becoming more and more popular, and apparently some farm stands are cashing on that claim even if it's not true, prompting the state to start to weed them out.

"Scott's Yankee Farmer grown because I want people to know that it's ours, it's from here," said Karen Scott.

Karen Scott says she knows others who are making false claims, buying produce at the farmers market in Hartford and passing it off as their own.
