Wenatchee, WA – Robert “Bob” Duncan McDougall, 87, of East Wenatchee, died Monday, Feb. 6, 2012, in Mesa, Arizona.
Bob was a lifelong resident of the Wenatchee Valley and had a 60-year career in the fruit industry. Bob formed McDougall Orchards, Inc. in 1960. He joined with his sons, Stuart and Scott, to form McDougall and Sons, Inc. in 1977, where he served as its president until his retirement in 1998. In 1989, he was one of the four founding partners of Columbia Marketing International (CMI).
Bob remained an active partner with his sons in an orchard north of Orondo called New Northview Orchard Partnership. He served in the Washington State House of Representatives from 1960 to 1968, his second term as Assistant Majority Leader, and was then elected to the Washington State Senate for a four-year term as Minority Whip.
Survivors include his wife, Doris McDougall of East Wenatchee; his sons, Douglas McDougall of Redmond, Stuart McDougall of Wenatchee and Scott McDougall of East Wenatchee; his stepchildren, Denice Frasu and Leonard Anderson, both of East Wenatchee, and Diane Bren of Olympia.
Bob’s passion, hard work and friendships touched many inside and outside the apple industry.
A celebration of life reception will be held on February 24, 2012 from 4 pm to 6
