Citrus Growers Hopeful Trump's Policies Help Industry

FORT PIERCE — Citrus growers on the Treasure Coast are hopeful President Donald Trump’s policies will help their struggling industry, but say they are reserving judgment.

A sampling of local growers gave their opinions while attending the annual Florida Citrus Show, which drew nearly 900 people Wednesday and Thursday to the Havert L. Fenn Center in Fort Pierce.

One who was more outspoken was J. Brantley Schirard, a longtime citrus grower in Fort Pierce, who was inducted into the Florida Citrus Hall of Fame in 2013.
