RUTHVEN, ON., Dec. 2, 2010 – Clifford Produce, the Ontario-based greenhouse grower, today named Chris Jacobs as company president. Jacobs is the first president for Clifford Produce, which previously operated under the direction of the board of directors and the company’s management team.
“We are very excited to welcome Chris to Clifford Produce. His expertise and leadership will be valuable in taking this company to the next level,” said Gerry Mastronardi, board president, Clifford Produce.
Before joining Clifford, Jacobs worked for 14 years in the perishable floral industry. He was previously Managing Director and Vice President of Sales for Keepsake Plants, Ltd., formerly Yoder Plants, of Ontario.
Jacobs was selected as president of Clifford Produce, after an extensive selection process, based on his ability to relate to the growing side of the business, as well as his experience leading a company and his background in sales and marketing.
“We’re a grower-owned company,” said Mastronardi. “So, we needed someone who has experience working with growers. But, we also wanted someone with the vision, the operational knowledge, and the marketing and sales experience to lead Clifford Produce as the company expands.”
As company president, Jacobs will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company, including sales and marketing, product packaging, and accounting, as well as onshore and offshore product procurement.
“Clifford Produce supplies its customers with premium, safe and healthy greenhouse produce, and I am delighted to be joining the company,” said Jacobs. “I look forward to working with Clifford’s growers and management team to supply the needs of our customers, support our retail partners, build consumer loyalty for our products, and lead the company on a path of continued strategic growth.”
