On Sunday July 30th, Santa Maria grower/shipper, Babé Farms, was awarded ‘Best Product Promo’ honors at PMA Foodservice Expo in Monterey, CA for its new, “Honey Cone” Cabbage.
“Grilled veggies have been on trend this year and we see the grilled Honey Cone Cabb-Wedge as the future of steakhouse salads,” said Ande Manos, Babé Farms Marketing Director. “The versatile Honey Cone Cabbage holds up well to heat and provides longevity with its stellar shelf-life.”
In addition to participating in this year’s Fresh Ideas Showcase, Babé Farms was serving up grilled Honey Cone Cabbage at their booth. Grilled to perfection, chopped and topped with croutons, bacon, sugar plum tomatoes, and bleu cheese dressing, the Honey Cone Cabbage stole the show and won over the appetites of many PMA attendees.
A sweeter and more tender cabbage variety, Honey Cone Cabbage is not only a grilling vegetable, but can also be roasted, sautéed in a stir-fry, or eaten raw in a slaw or wrap – a fine addition to an already stacked product line. Producers of over 70 varieties of colorful baby and specialty vegetables, innovation is nothing new to Babé Farms.
