Avocados From Mexico Tours Colleges Across The Country To Power Up Breakfast

DALLAS – Avocados From Mexico (AFM), the top-selling avocado in the United States, available year-round, announced its first AvoActive Tour to promote nutritious breakfast habits among college students and local community members. Showcasing twists on trendy avocado toast, smoothies and more, AFM in partnership with foodservice directors at participating colleges, universities and retail locations has created unique recipes for the tour based on the changing tastes of today’s college students and their new attitudes to food. The two-part tour will kick off at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, Mass., on Tuesday, Oct. 11, and make 40 stops at college campuses and local retail locations throughout the fall and spring. During each stop, AFM food trucks and delivery scooters will give away delicious breakfast samples and engage students in games and giveaways.

“We all know that breakfast is one of the most important meals of the day,” said Mark Garcia, Director of Foodservice Marketing at Avocados From Mexico. “But simply eating breakfast isn’t enough. We want to show students what a nutritious breakfast looks like, and that starting their morning with avocados is a delicious way to power them through their day – 365 days a year – for years to come.”

The tour will feature collaborative Power Up Breakfast recipes from AFM and partners Tabasco and Dannon Oikos including an avocado toast bar, avocado smoothies, avocado yogurt parfaits and half avocados with different varieties of Tabasco hot sauce. The nutritious breakfast discussion will also take place online, where students are encouraged to develop their own avocado creations and tweet them to be voted on, with each school’s winner receiving $500.
