Avocados From Mexico Launches Promotions To Increase Demand

FALLSTON, MD – Registered dietitian and chef Cheryl Forberg and Top Chef Master Suvir Saran have partnered with the Mexican Hass Avocado Importers Association (MHAIA) to give one lucky winner a private nutrition consultation, cooking lesson, and food shopping instruction in the winners’ home. Beginning February 17th through May 7th, avocado fans can enter at www.facebook.com/theamazingavocado or register at any of the 12 “Taste the WOW!” Mobile Tour stops around the country.

The “Taste the WOW” tour, now in its third season, stops at food and health events to demonstrate how avocados can add the “wow” factor to everyday meals and snacks, as well as to recipes for entertaining.  Visitors will also learn how to “Slice, Twist, and Pop” their way to getting the most out of their avocado. The Taste-mobile will be making its way down the East coast and up through the Midwest making twelve stops along the way.

“I’m proud to partner with MHAIA and my culinary colleague and friend Suvir to promote Avocados from Mexico, as they’re not only a delicious and versatile ingredient, but have nearly 20 vitamins and minerals and only 50 calories for a 1-oz serving,” explains Forberg. “Through the ‘Taste the WOW!’ tour and the ‘Pantry Pointers and Prep with Cheryl and Suvir’ sweepstakes, Avocados from Mexico is making nutrition fun and tasty!”

“Avocados are an international ingredient, appearing in cuisines from all over the world, as everything from a main ingredient to a delicious condiment,” said Saran. “I’m looking forward to teaching the winner how versatile and easy to use avocados are.”

During her 12 seasons as the nutritionist for the Biggest Loser, Cheryl helped transform the lives of more than 250 contestants and reached thousands more online.  Cheryl is not only a registered dietitian, but also a James Beard award winning chef, and is passionate about cooking with both nutrition and flavor in mind.

Suvir Saran is a peerless chef, teacher and public speaker. His restaurant, Devi, in New York was the first Indian restaurant in North America to earn a Michelin star.  As chairman of the World Cuisines Council, Asian Studies Center for the Culinary Institute of America, Saran furthers his goal to bring mindful living and eating to those craving change or contemplating it. He wowed judges with his skill and integrity while on Bravo’s Top Chef Masters Season 3 and is the author of three cookbooks.

Cheryl Forberg and Suvir Saran will be joining the “Taste the WOW!” Tour at the Georgia Marathon in Atlanta on March 16 and 17 and the International Wine, Spirits & Beer Show in Chicago on May 5 to share some of their favorite avocado recipes from Forberg’s newest cookbook, Flavor First and Saran’s Masala Farm.
