The Woolworths supermarket chain has started selling imperfect, and oddly shaped or sized, fruit and vegetables at discount prices.
The supermarket says the initiative will reduce food wastage, allow customers to buy fruit and vegetables at cheaper prices and benefit growers who will be able to sell more of their crop.
Donald Keith, Woolworths' senior category manager for fresh produce, says all the fruit and vegetables in the supermarket's The Odd Bunch range have the same nutritional and taste qualities as regular product, but have visual imperfections.
