HASTINGS, Neb.- Israel announced in January they would once again accept beef imports from the United States.
WR Reserve Black Angus Beef Company, with a processing plant in Hastings, Neb. was involved in talks that opened the market and they're now ready to start making shipments, WR Reserve is the only kosher packing plant in the United States approved by the Israeli government.
Nebraska Lt. Governor Mike Foley led a group of dignitaries and company officials loading two symbolic boxes of beef destined for Israel, the first shipment there in 13 years from the United States. However, up to 40-thousand pounds of beef per week will soon be headed to Israel.
