Tyson Chicken Plant Likely To Be Built In Kansas

It looks like Nebraska is out of the running as a location for Tyson’s new chicken-processing plant — if it was ever in the running in the first place.

Three Kansas locations are finalists for the project, the Kansas Department of Agriculture said.

Site location experts told The World-Herald in September that Tyson might look at Nebraska as a location for the $320 million plant, after its first choice, the Kansas community of Tonganoxie, fell through because of residents’ opposition. Retailer Costco is building its own chicken-processing plant in Fremont, Nebraska.
