St. Augustine, Fla. — The American Culinary Federation, Inc. (ACF), the nation’s premier organization for professional chefs and cooks, has awarded 13 Meyer Natural Angus meat products its prestigious Seal of Approval. The products were submitted for extensive testing and were approved by members of ACF’s Seal of Approval committee, effective Sept. 21, 2010.
“Earning the American Culinary Federation’s Seal of Approval is a great honor. For years, chefs have raved about the exceptional tenderness and flavor of our natural steaks and ground beef,” says Bob Meyer, owner, Meyer Natural Foods. “ACF’s distinguished test panel has now validated our commitment to quality. We are proud to carry this endorsement.”
The products that received the Seal of Approval are:
Rib-eye steak (rib-eye loin)
New York strip steak (strip loin)
Top sirloin steak (top butt)
London broil (inside round)
Ground beef – 75/25
Ground beef – 80/20
Ground beef – 85/15
Eye of round roast (eye of round)
Kabobs (bottom flats)
Chuck roast (chuck roll)
Beef stew meat (chuck roll/clod/chuck tender)
Meyer Natural Beef ground beef – 80/20
Meyer Natural Beef ground beef – 85/15
Keith Davis, CEC, AAC, chair of the Seal of Approval committee, applied the organization’s rigorous testing criteria to the meat products, evaluating for application, physical properties, performance, packaging standards, and accuracy of labels and marketing materials.
“The Meyer Natural Angus beef products were tested using a variety of preparation methods, such as broiling, grilling, sautéing, braising, stewing, roasting and pan-frying,” said Davis. “The products were also tested using a variety of beef recipes. ACF is proud to award these 13 products our distinguished seal of approval.”
The ACF Seal of Approval program offers foodservice manufacturers the opportunity to have products endorsed by the premier organization of professional chefs in the U.S. Unlike other entities that offer tasting endorsements only, the ACF Seal requires extensive product testing and evaluation. After three years, ACF determines if the product needs to be retested.
