Sugarcreek, OH – Sugar Valley Meats LLC of Sugarcreek, Ohio has issued a voluntary recall due to possible listeria monocytogenes contamination involving approximately 200 lbs. of ready-to-eat product. The products are wieners, beef wieners and smoked sausage (small links only). Each product’s package label bears the establishment number (Est. 165) inside the Ohio Department of Agriculture inspection legend. The products involved in this recall were offered for sale through Sugar Valley’s retail store from February 23rd thru March 15th. The problem was discovered as a result of routine sampling by the Ohio Department of Agriculture.
The department has not received any consumer complaints or reports of illness at this time. Consumption of food contaminated with listeria monocytogenes can cause listerosis, an uncommon but potentially fatal disease in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy people rarely contract listerosis, if you become ill, you are advised to seek attention from a physician.
We at Sugar Valley Meats value our customers and strive to produce a safe and wholesome product. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
