Pitman Family Farms has added 25,000 square-feet to its Sanger chicken processing plant at 1489 K St. Building improvements totaled about $2 million.
In addition, the fast growing company is adding two new buildings totaling 14,000 square feet valued at $500,000 and is installing solar panels to its complex as well, said a city planner. Pitman Family Farms has ranches in both Tulare and Fresno counties raising an organic line of turkeys, chicken and ducks.
“The niche product is increasing in popularity with the recovery,” said Sanger City Manager Brian Haddix. ”They seem to be constantly on the grow.”
The company held a series of job fairs in the past year. Haddix said the plant employed some 350 in 2012.
