Polidori Sausage Named One Of Denver's Certified Green Businesses

DENVER, COLORADO  – Polidori Sausage was recently named one of Denver’s certified green businesses. Each year, the organization, Certified Green Denver, hosts the “Green Business Showcase,” highlighting green restaurants, salons, offices, and other businesses in the Denver community. This year’s event was held at Linger Restaurant on Tuesday evening, June 14, 2016. “We moved to our new Park Hill location this spring, and one of the most important items with our facility, was to make everything around us as “green” as possible, said Melodie Polidori Harris, Vice President of Polidori Sausage. “From our office areas to our processing facilities, we have implemented numerous ways to be both green and efficient.”

Sustainability advisors worked with Polidori Sausage by visiting the plant and offices to complete an assessment, identifying water conservation, and energy efficiency options. The advisors helped implement practices including:  LED lights, low efficiency sinks & toilets, company’s decision to provide RTD passes for all employees, recycling all paper and cardboard, and installing light sensors for low traffic areas within the plant.

About Polidori Sausage:

2016 marks the 91th anniversary for Polidori Sausage. Anna Polidori and her husband Rocco opened Polidori’s Grocery and Meat Market in North Denver in 1925. As the butcher in the Meat Market, Anna would regularly cook up her family heirloom sausage recipes for pure enjoyment in the back of the store. The aroma of the sausages enticed customers to want to purchase Anna’s Italian Sausages. Steadily as the years past Anna continued to sell sausage from the meat counter at Polidori’s Grocery to both walk in customers and restaurants.

Steve Polidori and Melodie Polidori Harris, Anna’s great grandchildren run the company today. Together, the 4th generation of Polidori’s focus on the long standing traditions of Anna’s quality and consistency and run the company still located in Denver.  In the spring of 2016, Polidori Sausage opened their new plant in the Park Hill neighborhood.
