The Meat Institute held its Annual Meeting and Outlook Conference September 27-29, at the Fairmont Hotel in Washington, D.C. The event featured in-depth education sessions, covering key industry topics including food waste, antibiotic use in livestock and a preview of 2017 USDA priorities. Conference breakout sessions addressed legislative affairs, employment issues, family business topics, economics and more.
The Institute also announced the officers who will guide the organization in 2017.
Mike Townsley, president of Bob Evans Farms, Inc., will serve as chairman of the Board of Directors, while John Vatri, vice president of operations at Cardinal Meat Specialists, Ltd., will serve as vice chairman.
