Meat Departments Still Strive To Keep Meat Local

Trade negotiations and the concerns of the National Cattlemen's Beef Association probably aren't on the minds of shoppers at Naser Foods, a longtime meat market in Oklahoma Borough.

But the store does hang informative signs on the walls for consumers: “U.S.D.A. inspected chicken, country of origin: U.S.A.” The sign for pork denotes the country origin as U.S.A. and Canada.

“We don't buy from Mexico,” said Jerry Sofaly, a meat cutter at Naser's.

Owner Bill Naser said his No. 1 concern is quality.
