Kirksville, Mo. – Kraft Foods/Oscar Mayer in Kirksville will phase out bacon production at its Adair County plant by the end of 2015, eliminating 275 jobs at one of the area's top employers.
In a memo to employees on Wednesday, the company stated it has been "reviewing our manufacturing network, and as a result, we will begin consolidating all Bacon (sic) production in the April to June timeframe of 2015" and phase out all bacon production in Kirksville "by the end of 2015."
The memo states this move does not impact ham production and "Kirksville will continue to make Ham (sic)."
