There's a ton going into Saturday's fourth annual Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival. Literally.
More than 2,000 pounds of the cured meat will be on hand to feed 1,600 attendees at the sold-out event at Capitol Square.
Bacon Fest has gone from a group of bacon-loving guys getting together in a cabin to taste-test different varieties of bacon, to a modest gathering at the High Life Lounge for the first festival, to the uber-popular bacon and booze party it is today – a golden-ticket-like event that, despite doubling in size each of the last three years, still sells out in less than a half-hour.
