Introduction Of 'H-E-B Organics' Includes Beef, Lamb, Poultry, Pork

SAN ANTONIO — Strengthening its commitment to offering customers more food choices to fit their lifestyles, H-E-B is introducing H-E-B Organics, the company’s own line of organic products offered at everyday low prices. The company believes making organics more prevalent and affordable will create better access to a wide variety of food choices for all Texans.

After years of vision and planning, the March introduction of H-E-B Organics will significantly increase the availability and affordability of organic products in Texas. The new line will focus on everyday pantry staples such as canned tomatoes and vegetables, cereal, crackers, fruit and specialty spreads, coffee, salad dressing and potato and tortilla chips. Additionally the launch will include items throughout the produce and market departments such as salads, carrots, cheese and various beef products customers can use every day.All H-E-B Organics products are USDA certified organic, which prohibits the use of GMOs. Organics are grown using only USDA organic compliant fertilizers and pesticides suitable for use of sustainable soil management methods. Items do not contain any artificial colors or artificial flavors. For meat and dairy products, the H-E-B Organics label means the animals were raised on organic feed with no added growth hormones and the products were processed in a USDA-certified organic facility.

“As the number one food provider in Texas, it is H-E-B’s goal to give our customers the best food choices at the lowest possible prices, and that includes organics,” said Martin Otto, H-E-B Chief Merchant. “As a company, we strive for sustainability in our offerings and business practices, and we know our customers are thinking the same way. Demand for organic products has risen steadily over the past few years, yet many organics remain out of reach for customers on a budget. That’s why we are so excited to introduce our customers to H-E-B Organics giving Texas families an affordable way to go organic.”

As of today, H-E-B has introduced hundreds of organic items under their new label available at stores throughout Texas and Mexico. The H-E-B Organics line of products will also feature numerous items suited for children that are both affordable and convenient, including: string cheese, fruit cups, juice boxes, apple sauce, pretzels and a variety of lunch meats. H-E-B plans to evolve this brand into the largest assortment of organics in the state. The company’s organic brand promise for each of the categories includes:
