The Centers for Disease Control has updated its case count again to nearly 390 people. Most of those sickened — 288 — live in California. So far, health officials have reported 10 cases in Oregon and 15 in Washington state.
The outbreak has sickened people in 23 states and Puerto Rico. The most recent illnesses were reported to the CDC on Oct. 29. There could still be more cases, however, because of the time lag between illness onset and reporting to federal authorities. The CDC's epidemiological curve indicates that the outbreak is slowing.
