There is a clear demand for top quality lamb in the USA which cannot be fully met by the nation’s farmers.
As a result a top level diplomatic mission leaves Wales for Washington next week, led by the Minister for Natural Resources and Food, Alun Davies, with the aim of opening up the American market to premium quality Welsh Lamb.
If successful it is estimated by Hybu Cig Cymru – Meat Promotion Wales, who organised the mission, that Wales could export 3,100 tonnes of Welsh Lamb to the USA every year, earning £20 million for the Welsh economy.
