PHOENIX — Maricopa County Sheriff's deputies arrested 14 people Tuesday morning after serving a search warrant at Prime Cut Meat & Seafood Co., a Phoenix meat packing business.
Five of the arrested were accused of using the names, birth dates and Social Security numbers of other individuals, deputies said.
Deputies said they were acting on tips that the business at 2601 N. 31st Ave. was hiring illegal aliens.
"It is a serious crime they've committed," Arpaio said.
"They haul these people away like their dogs. It's heart wrenching," said Chad Poppen, General Manager of the plant.
