CFIA Bans Poultry Products From Five US States Due To Avian Flu Outbreak

Canada has banned the importation of all poultry products from Minnesota, California, Idaho, Oregon and Washington due to an outbreak of avian flu in poultry in those states.

"All raw poultry and all poultry products and by-products that are not fully cooked, including eggs and raw pet foods, sourced, processed, or packaged" from those states are under restriction until further notice, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency said Friday.

"You may not bring these items into Canada," CFIA said.

The agency says live pet birds may be brought into the country with official certification from the United States Department of Agriculture.
