Ottawa, Ontario – The Canadian Meat Council is pleased to announce the appointment of Christopher White as the organization’s new President and CEO, effective immediately.
“I am delighted to welcome Chris White to the Canadian Meat Council,” said CMC Chair Troy Warren. “Chris will draw on his more than 20 years of successful experience in top tier political, public, and private sector roles in the development of a new vision and strategic plan that will focus our organization on becoming a best in class trade association,” added Warren.
Chris White has extensive industry organization, government relations, and public affairs experience. Previous positions have included Chief of Staff for five federal cabinet ministers and Vice-President of Government Relations in the finance, insurance, and auto sectors.
Chris has a master’s degree in political science from the University of Windsor, as well as a bachelor’s degree in political science and a graduate diploma in international development from the University of Ottawa.
The Canadian meat processing industry includes 400 federally inspected establishments that provide safe, high quality protein for consumers, create jobs, and contribute significantly to local economic activity in both rural and urban Canada. With annual sales of $28 billion, exports of $6.1 billion, and 66,000 jobs, the Canadian meat industry is the largest component of this country’s food processing sector.
The Canadian Meat Council has been representing Canada’s federally inspected meat processing industry since 1919.
