Bedford – Beef and veal were top of mind during the 2018 Pennsylvania Association of Family & Consumer Sciences (PAFCS) Annual Conference held April 5 -7, 2018 in Scranton, PA. The PA Beef Council (PBC) participated in two 1-hour sessions titled “Dine-In with Beef & Veal” with the goal of sharing beef and veal resources that are available to educators, including the newly developed in-classroom toolkits, virtual farm tour opportunities, and much more! The conference served as the launch of the Beef & Veal in the Classroom Grant Program for the upcoming 2018-2019 School Year. These grants provide financial support for the use of beef and veal products within junior and senior high school Family and Consumer Science (FCS) classrooms. Lesson topics range from lean beef and veal selection and storage to nutrition. PBC is thankful for the continued support of our partners Mountain States Rosen, Formula One Feeds, Waja Growers and Marcho Veal, who make the program possible. This year’s program will offer a total of 60 grants to FCS classrooms across the state. If you are interested in learning more about the program or submitting an application visit our website, https://www.pabeef.org/resources/educators. The deadline to apply is June 1, 2018.
We are thankful for the partnership of organizations, like PAFCS to connect and engage with the FCS educators within our state. Dr. Mary Kaye Rhude-Faust, Executive Director, PAFCS commented, “Thank you so much for presenting at our PAFCS Conference. The feedback from your presentation was overwhelmingly positive! Conference attendees pulled me aside after your presentation to explain how the information you shared was so valuable to them and that your presentation was engaging. Thank you again for making our conference academically engaging and personally rewarding for our attendees.” in response to our presence at their recent conference.
